Do you enjoy wave-based zombie shooters where your skill actually pays off? Undead Blocks is a free-to-play multiplayer FPS built around surviving endless zombie hordes, completing challenges, and optionally owning your weapons as NFTs. Developed by Wagyu Games and playable on PC and Mac, it delivers classic zombie-shooter nostalgia with a blockchain economy layered underneath.

What is Undead Blocks?

Undead Blocks is developed by Wagyu Games, a Web3 gaming studio co-founded by Kyle Gordon in 2021. The game started out under Adonis Software, building a player base of over 275,000 before Wagyu Games took it over. Wagyu is overhauling gameplay, graphics, and content, with a mobile version on the roadmap for 2027.

Avalanche is the game’s home chain, with Blackhole as its DEX partner, while the Genesis weapon NFTs still trade on OpenSea. Animoca Brands is the project’s lead investor.

How Does Undead Blocks Work?

Combat is wave-based FPS: survive as many zombie rounds as possible, collect ZBOXes dropped by kills, and complete daily challenges. Four game modes cover different playstyles. Solo pits you alone against escalating waves, Duos and Squads let you team up with one to three friends in co-op, SpeedRun challenges you to clear a set number of waves as fast as possible, and Massacre is a timed kill-count mode. NFT game modes run the same formats but with enhanced ZBOX drops for loadout holders.

Four playable characters each bring distinct designs, and every map demands different weapon choices and positioning strategies. Daily leaderboard challenges rotate weapon-specific objectives, giving players a reason to diversify their loadouts rather than settle on one setup. Five new challenges (Weapon Level Up, Headshot Hunter, Untouchable, Survivor, and Rampage) are on the way, each awarding permanent upgrades. PlayStation and Xbox controllers connect via Bluetooth or plug-in, with all in-game icons adapting to whichever input method you use.

Digital Collectibles in Undead Blocks

The dual-currency system uses Green ZBUX and Gold ZBUX. Green ZBUX is earned in free-to-play mode and used to upgrade weapon loadouts. Gold ZBUX is the premium currency from NFT game modes, challenges, and tournaments, and it can be swapped for cryptocurrencies through the Wagyu Games Wallet. Gold ZBUX rewards were paused for the Avalanche relaunch, with their return on the roadmap.

Weapon Loadout NFTs come in two collections: Genesis and Apocalypse. Holding one unlocks VIP game modes with higher ZBUX drop rates and access to exclusive tournaments. Loadout rentals are paused for now, with a new Arms Dealer Program planned for 2027. Weapon Skin NFTs and Loot Coffins round out the collectible side, with the skins moving from ImmutableX to Avalanche. NFTs are interoperable across future Wagyu Games titles. The $UNDEAD token covers governance voting and staking, and Stake-to-Mint lets holders mint a free Apocalypse loadout.
