Do you follow football, basketball, or baseball closely enough to back your knowledge with real stakes? Sorare is a licensed fantasy sports platform where you collect digital player cards, build weekly lineups, and compete against a global community for cash prizes, signed jerseys, and VIP experiences. With 300+ officially licensed teams across three sports and over 5 million managers worldwide, it’s the most established blockchain fantasy platform running.

What is Sorare?

Sorare was founded in 2018 by Nicolas Julia and Adrien Montfort in Paris and raised a $680 million Series B that valued the company at $4.3 billion. The platform holds official licenses with the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, the NBA, and MLB among 300+ sports organizations globally. Cards are available on iOS, Android, and browser.

Sorare’s NFT infrastructure runs on Solana, using compressed NFTs to keep transaction costs low for a platform operating at millions of card trades.

How Does Sorare Work?

Each manager builds a lineup of five cards per competition entry, selecting players based on their expected real-world performance that game week. Player scores are calculated from official match statistics provided by third-party data providers: goals, assists, clean sheets, passing accuracy, and similar metrics depending on the sport. Your score is the sum of your five players’ real-world performances.

Competitions run across multiple tiers. In football, dedicated In-Season tournaments cover seven leagues including the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, and Ligue 1, alongside global formats like Challenger and Contender that draw from broader card pools. Classic modes like All-Star, U23, and Champion Europe run year-round with seven-player lineups. NBA and MLB follow equivalent structures tied to their respective seasons.

Cards carry a scarcity tier: Common (free, non-tradable), Limited, Rare, Super Rare, and Unique. Higher-scarcity cards earn larger reward multipliers in competitions, and only one Unique card exists per player per season by definition.

Essence is the crafting currency. Earned through competition finishes and daily missions, Essence feeds into the Card Factory where managers draw new cards from a pool of ten face-down options. Sealing (locking cards in your Vault) boosts leaderboard rewards by up to 10% and applies to Legends cards as well as current season cards.

Digital Collectibles in Sorare

Sorare cards are compressed NFTs on Solana. Each card is officially licensed, player-specific, and issued in fixed quantities per scarcity tier. A Limited card of a Premier League starter carries different supply and demand dynamics than the same player’s Unique, which has a supply of one globally.

Cards trade on Sorare’s marketplace with a secondary sale fee applied to each transaction. Prices move with player form, fixture difficulty, injury news, and lineup rotation, the same factors that drive traditional fantasy sports decisions, with the added dimension that your assets carry between seasons rather than resetting annually. Common cards are free to receive and use but cannot be traded.

Rewards from competitions include cash, additional cards, and physical prizes including signed jerseys, match tickets, and VIP experiences with clubs.

Common cards are eligible for entry-level competitions where you can practice lineup strategy and earn Essence without spending. To access reward-bearing competitions, you need at least one Limited or higher card in your lineup. Entry-level Limited cards for mid-table football clubs typically start under $5 on the marketplace. UK users should note that enhanced KYC verification and spending limits apply under current regulatory requirements.
