What is Gods Unchained?
Gods Unchained is a free-to-play collectible card game developed by Immutable Games, led by Executive Producer Daniel Paez (Blizzard, Activision) and Chris Clay (former Game Director of Magic: The Gathering Arena). The game launched in 2018 on Ethereum and originally ran on Immutable X layer-2 before migrating to Immutable zkEVM in June 2025.
Set in the fantasy realm of Eucos, players take on the role of gods summoning creatures and casting spells in tactical turn-based battles. The game features over 1,800 cards across six domains (Light, Death, Nature, War, Magic, Deception), each with unique playstyles and strategies. Gods Unchained launched on mobile platforms February 29, 2024, bringing cross-platform play to iOS, Android, Windows, and macOS with unified progression across all devices.
How Does Gods Unchained Work?
Players build decks of 30 cards and battle opponents in turn-based matches. Each god has unique powers that shape your strategy—Light focuses on board control and healing, Death summons undead creatures, Nature buffs allies, War deploys aggressive minions, Magic manipulates spells, and Deception relies on trickery and card stealing.
Multiple game modes offer different experiences. Ranked Mode features competitive ladder climbing with seasonal rewards. Weekend Ranked tournaments run Friday through Sunday with $GODS token prizes. Sealed Mode drafts cards from random packs for arena-style gameplay. Solo Mode teaches mechanics through AI battles. Battle Pass Season 7 launched October 2025 with 60 progression levels offering cards, cosmetics, and token rewards through Fancy Pass ($300 $GODS) and Whale Pass tiers.
Gods Unchained continuously expands through major card releases. Guardians of Elderym (June 2024) introduced 76 cards with Guild of Guardians crossover characters. Tower of Dread (October 2024) added 40 cards including seven Legendary cards with Mythic variants. Age of Ascent (October 2025) brought 24 new cards with the Fellowship keyword. Fallen Age (February 18, 2025) launched 56 post-apocalyptic cards with seven Legendaries and their Mythic variants.
Digital Collectibles in Gods Unchained
Every card exists as an NFT on Immutable zkEVM following the June 2025 migration from Immutable X. Cards feature quality tiers (Plain, Shadow, Gold, Diamond) and shine variants that increase rarity and value. Mythic Art variants represent ultra-rare 1-of-1 Legendary cards with exclusive artwork—the ultimate collector’s prize.
The $GODS token (ERC-20) powers the in-game economy for governance, staking, and marketplace transactions. Players earn $GODS through daily play-and-earn rewards, Weekend Ranked tournaments, and Battle Pass progression. Staking $GODS provides additional token rewards through the enhanced zkEVM staking system launched post-migration.
Cards trade on the Immutable zkEVM marketplace with gas fees paid in $IMX tokens, though Immutable Passport wallet users enjoy gas-free transactions. The game supports fiat purchases through standard payment methods for players preferring traditional transactions. Divine Tithings lets players burn cards for discount points—up to 35% off expansion packs at 60,000 DT points.
