What is Uldor?

Uldor is a dark fantasy MMORPG developed by Max Level Studios, founded by CEO Chris Adcock in 2021. The team includes veterans from Ubisoft and the Ethereum Foundation and puts players first. Uldor is built in Unreal Engine 5 and comes out in phases, one polished mode at a time.

Set in a medieval fantasy world torn apart by rebellion, Uldor’s lore centers on an empire that fractured into three warring factions: Zetan, Karg, and Kilan. While these factions battle for territory, ancient beasts and undead forces emerge from the darkness, threatening all who inhabit the land. The game blurs lines between heroism and villainy, letting player choices shape their character’s path through a morally complex narrative.

Uldor Dread Arena is the first playable mode, available on HyperPlay. This arena survival game serves as a combat testing ground where players face endless waves of the Dread King’s undead minions. Max Level Studios also owns Middleverse Studios, whose CEO Andres Garcia joined as COO, and Uldor is the flagship title of the Middleverse ecosystem.

How Does Uldor Work?

Uldor’s phased development delivers distinct game modes before combining them into a full MMORPG. Dread Arena, the current playable phase, drops players into a volcanic arena surrounded by flowing lava. Armed with swords and special abilities, you survive increasingly difficult enemy waves. Four playable characters offer different weapons and combat stances. Special abilities don’t consume stamina, which rewards aggressive tactical play over defensive grinding.

Combat animations prioritize fluidity and impact, drawing comparisons to Assassin’s Creed’s polished movement systems. Abilities feature satisfying visual effects that make each activation feel meaningful. Players collect healing elixirs mid-battle when health runs low. The arena penalizes positioning errors, and stepping too close to the edge sends you plummeting into lava below.

The next modes are still in development, and Max Level Studios has not confirmed dates for them. PvP Arena will feature ranked matches, unranked skirmishes, and full progression with seasonal rewards including exclusive armor and weapons. Factions mode will introduce large-scale territory battles where players defend fortifications and organize assaults against enemy sentry posts. Holding territory grants access to special shops, dungeons, and rare loot quests.

An Open World phase follows, expanding the Factions persistent world with PvE content including towns, quest chains, dungeons, and world bosses. The full MMORPG experience will support multiple playstyles: adventurers completing quests and battling epic beasts, merchants trading goods between towns, and crafters gathering resources through profession systems. Player customization uses a talent system for creating unique class builds rather than rigid archetype restrictions.

Alara AI Character Creator

Alara is an AI-powered character creation tool that Max Level Studios built for Uldor, a first for MMORPGs. Alara enables extensive avatar customization through text or voice commands, with the AI responding via text or voice output for accessibility. The system recommends styles and adjustments based on player input, or generates complete character designs from detailed descriptions.

Beyond player characters, Alara creates thematically consistent NPCs. Related characters share familial traits, while regional NPCs exhibit distinct cultural markers tied to their faction or homeland. This ensures immersion when encountering characters throughout Uldor’s world. Alara can populate entire towns with authentic NPCs that feel narratively connected to the game’s lore, eliminating the generic NPC problem plaguing many MMORPGs.

Digital Collectibles in Uldor

Guardian and Fury NFTs represent hero-class characters with capped supplies of 1,500 each. Max Level Studios reduced the original supply and burned the remaining NFTs. These NFTs grant immediate access to faction warfare without leveling requirements, eliminating traditional MMORPG grinding. Holders receive access to exclusive quests, adventures, and boss fights unavailable to standard players. When Guardian or Fury holders join groups, they unlock unique side-quests for their entire party.

The RUNI token (ERC-20) functions as Uldor’s native utility token for marketplace transactions. Players buy, sell, and trade crafted loot, earned gear, and resources using RUNI. Blockchain integration via Immutable X provides carbon-neutral, gas-free NFT transactions on Ethereum. All item transactions live on-chain, enabling players to trace loot history including acquisition method, previous owners, and historical prices.

Uldor is free to play. No NFTs or token purchases are required to access any game mode. Guardian and Fury holders gain convenience and exclusive content, but standard players experience the full game through traditional progression. The Forge and marketplace are planned alongside Factions mode to set up the player-driven economy. RUNI token drop timing remains to be determined according to the official roadmap.

Download Uldor Dread Arena free on HyperPlay to start battling undead waves immediately. Create a Middleverse account to track progression across all Max Level Studios games. No wallet connection is required to play, and blockchain features remain completely optional. To trade items or claim Guardian/Fury NFT benefits when those systems launch, connect an Ethereum wallet compatible with Immutable X.
