Miss old-school MMORPGs where you build your own character, farm your own land and haul goods across a dangerous map? RavenQuest is a free-to-play sandbox MMORPG on Immutable from the studio behind Ravendawn, with a flexible class system, player housing, guild wars and optional land NFTs.
What is RavenQuest?
RavenQuest is a top-down pixel-art MMORPG made by Tavernlight Games. It runs on a fork of the studio’s earlier MMORPG Ravendawn, with a blockchain layer added for land, items and the $QUEST token. You play it on Windows through the Epic Games Store.
The game leans on player freedom. You can spend your evenings as a trader, a crafter, a dungeon diver, a landowner or a pirate who steals other players’ cargo at sea. Tavernlight ships changes at a fast pace, with several changelogs a month across the main game and its seasonal mode.
How Does RavenQuest Work?
There are no fixed classes. You pick three of eight archetypes (Archery, Wizardry, Warfare, Protection, Holy, Shadow, Spiritual and Witchcraft) and combine their skills, so a Warfare and Wizardry mix plays very differently from a Shadow build. You can swap archetypes at any time.
Crafting and gathering are skill-based professions. Raw materials can go into gear or into tradepacks, bundles of goods you carry to a Tradepost for Silver. Prices follow supply and demand, packs slow you down, and other players can ambush you on the road, so wagons, ships and route choice matter.
For combat you have dungeons, world events, ranked Solo and Duo Arena, and open-world guild wars. Fortune’s Frontier is a separate seasonal mode where everyone starts equal on three islands with different risk levels. You loot as much as you dare and extract to keep it.
Digital Collectibles in RavenQuest
The main NFTs are land plots on Immutable zkEVM. They come in five sizes, from Small up to Fort, and the size sets how big a house you can build and how many crops, trees and animals fit on it. Players without land use community land instead, where farming costs Effort, a resource landowners don’t spend on their own plots. RavenCards and cosmetics are the other collectibles.
The game token is $QUEST. It pays for land upkeep and ability upgrades and is used on the marketplace. RavenQuest itself is free to play, and you don’t need land, tokens or a wallet to start.
Getting Started in RavenQuest
Create an account on the official RavenQuest website with your email address or Google account, then download the game for free from the Epic Games Store.
In your first session, choose three archetypes that suit how you like to fight, follow the early quests and try a profession such as farming or woodcutting. Good to know: carry your first tradepacks along safe land routes, because sea routes pay more but are also more dangerous.
