What is Skyweaver?

Skyweaver is a digital collectible card game developed by Horizon Blockchain Games, the team behind the Sequence wallet platform. Led by Co-Founder Peter Kieltyka and Chief Storyteller Michael Sanders, the game launched in Open Beta April 2022 after raising $13.3M from investors including Coinbase, Initialized Capital, and Polychain.

The game runs on Polygon blockchain using USDC stablecoin for marketplace transactions, eliminating crypto volatility concerns for players. Over 345,000 players joined the waitlist before Open Beta, with the community logging 446,000+ gameplay hours across 1.7 million matches and $1.9M+ in marketplace volume. The Discord community exceeds 100,000 members, surpassing Web2 competitors like Hearthstone and Magic: The Gathering Arena.

Skyweaver features 500+ unique cards across five Prisms (elemental affinities): Strength, Wisdom, Heart, Intellect, and Agility. Players choose from 15 Heroes—each representing single or dual-Prism combinations—and build 30-card decks to battle opponents in turn-based strategic combat.

How Does Skyweaver Work?

Players deploy creatures, cast spells, and utilize hero abilities to reduce opponent health to zero across turn-based matches. Each hero gained unique abilities throughout 2023-2024, with single-Prism heroes receiving abilities first, followed by dual-Prism heroes. Hero progression allows unlocking new abilities for favorite characters.

The game operates on 28-day seasons with six competitive ranks: Wanderer (introductory), Bronze, Silver, Gold, Diamond, and Mythic. Weekly rewards distribute Silver cards and Conquest Tickets to top leaderboard performers based on Rank Points (RP). Ranked mode supports both Constructed (custom decks) and Discovery (randomized cards) formats with separate leaderboards.

Draft Mode launched in 2024 as the game’s first Limited Format. Players choose one of eight Dragon Heroes, then build decks through pack-opening rounds while selecting Events—modifiers influencing card choices. Four players compete per draft with freshly-built decks. Daily Draft Ascent uses Spark currency for entry, with top performers earning tickets to Weekly Draft Cup qualifying for Seasonal Draft Championship.

The tournament system debuted 2024 with tiered competitions: Daily Tournaments (accessible via Spark), Weekly Cups (USDC prizes + Seasonal qualifications), Seasonal Championships (32 World Championship invitations), and the 2024 World Championship featuring the largest USDC prize pool in Skyweaver history. Winners receive opportunities to design cards or appear in card artwork alongside the art team.

Conquest Mode offers high-stakes gameplay where players wager Silver cards or USDC as entry fees. Matches continue until three wins or one loss. Rewards scale: 1 win earns 1 Silver NFT, 2 wins grant 2 Silver NFTs, 3 wins award 1 Gold NFT plus 1 Silver NFT. Only Conquest Mode offers Gold card acquisition through gameplay.

Digital Collectibles in Skyweaver

Cards exist in three grades: Base (non-tradable, earned free through gameplay), Silver (tradable NFTs), and Gold (premium tradable NFTs). All 500+ Base cards can be obtained without spending. Silver and Gold variants of these cards trade on Sequence Market using USDC stablecoin on Polygon blockchain.

The 2024 economy update introduced two currencies: Spark and Weave. Spark is earned through the free Skypass progression system and crafts Base cards or enters free tournaments. Weave serves as premium currency for rare card crafting, tournament entries, and exclusive rewards. Card rarity tiers launched in 2024, allowing players to craft rarer versions using more Spark/Weave resources, creating complex market dynamics around Legendary-grade Gold cards.

Skypass operates as seasonal Battle Pass with free and premium tracks. Free track grants Spark, Base cards, and progression rewards. Premium Skypass unlocks limited-edition tradable items including exclusive Card Backs and accelerated card acquisition. Premium rewards disappear when seasons end—except persistent items like Conquest Tickets—creating time-limited collectibility.

The Hexbound Invasion expansion added new cards throughout 2024-2025 seasons via Skypass rewards. Players earn unlockable Titles (non-tradable achievements) through Skypass progression. Early adopters received exclusive “Early Songbird” titles, while premium supporters earned “Scrappy Supporter” titles—both never available again.

All marketplace transactions use USDC on Polygon with minimal gas fees. Sequence Wallet integration allows gas payments in USDC instead of MATIC, streamlining the experience. Direct credit/debit card purchases and Google Pay support enable fiat on-ramps without crypto knowledge required.
