Want a quick football game on your phone where you build a squad of real stars and play other fans in short matches? FIFA Rivals is the officially licensed arcade football game from FIFA and Mythical Games, free on iOS and Android, with live PvP, a league ladder and tradable player collectibles.
What is FIFA Rivals?
FIFA Rivals puts you in the role of manager. You scout players, build your lineup and take it into fast matches against the game or against other players. It is an arcade game with simple controls, so a match takes minutes and you don’t need years of console football experience to keep up.
The game carries the official FIFA licence, with real players and clubs. FIFA reported more than 2.5 million downloads in the game’s first year, and it holds a 4.7 rating from about 3,100 reviews on the US App Store. New seasons arrive every few weeks, and a fresh set of featured players drops every week.
How Does FIFA Rivals Work?
Matches come in two flavours. Turn-based matches let you plan each move, while real-time matches put you head to head with a live opponent. Super Mode doubles your players’ stats for a moment and unlocks special abilities, such as passes that can’t be caught offside.
The main solo mode is League Summit. Your club starts in the bottom league and climbs through full league seasons with standings and promotion. Wins raise your Team Level and pay out player packs, and extra stars come from winning by two goals or keeping a clean sheet.
Ranked Divisions is the competitive side. Every match is against a real player, and you climb from Bronze through Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond to Master and Grandmaster, with relegation if you lose too often. Legacy Mode lets you replay FIFA World Cup tournaments from 2010 to 2022.
Digital Collectibles in FIFA Rivals
Some players, kits, boots and balls in FIFA Rivals are digital collectibles on Mythical Chain, the blockchain run by Mythical Games. You trade them on Pulse Market, the official marketplace, where prices are shown in US dollars and you can pay by card, Apple Pay, USDC or other crypto.
To trade, you create a free Pulse account and link it to your game in the settings. You don’t need a crypto wallet for this. Trading is optional: you can build a squad and play every mode without ever opening the market.
Getting Started in FIFA Rivals
Download FIFA Rivals from the App Store or Google Play via the official website. The game is free to play, with optional purchases such as a premium Season Pass.
In your first session, finish the tutorial, open your first packs and press “Play Next League Match” to start your League Summit run. Good to know: Ranked Divisions unlocks through your Team Level, so the league ladder is also the way into PvP.
