Miss real-time strategy that fits on a phone screen? Wild Forest is a free PvP strategy game for iOS, Android and PC by Zillion Whales, with fast one-screen battles, card-style deck building and optional NFT units on Ronin.
What is Wild Forest?
Wild Forest is a real-time strategy game where two players fight on a single screen. You build up a base, send out your units and control them directly while your opponent does the same. Think of a classic RTS match squeezed down for a touchscreen, with a cast of cartoon animal warriors.
The game comes from Zillion Whales, the studio behind Mushroom Wars. It has passed 100,000 downloads on Google Play and also runs on PC through the Epic Games Store, so you can move between a phone and a mouse.
How Does Wild Forest Work?
A match is about territory. You capture ground by moving troops into it, build mines, towers and camps, and try to destroy the enemy’s main base. Each unit costs mana and has a cooldown, so spending at the right moment matters as much as reaction speed. A day-night cycle changes things further: the whole battlefield is visible by day, and fog of war covers it at night.
Before each battle you pick a deck of up to seven units. Every unit has its own strengths and counters. The Archer deals high damage from range but goes down fast, the Spearman punches through armor, and the Bomb can swing a fight if it reaches a group of enemies. Units level up with Gold and Shards, and higher ranks unlock Perks.
Public PvP adds or removes trophies, Ranked PvP feeds the leaderboard, and Private Battles are for friendly games and tournaments. Arena lets you build a deck from any unit in the game with its own rating, so your collection doesn’t decide the fight. If you’d rather face the computer, Survival sends waves of enemies at your base across four difficulty levels.
Digital Collectibles in Wild Forest
Your items stay inside the game by default. Units come from Battle Pass quests and Packs, and you only turn one into an NFT if you mint it through the website, after which you can trade it on Ronin’s Mavis Market. Skins, Packs and Clan Zeppelins exist as NFTs too.
Lords are a separate NFT collection for dedicated players. Staking one unlocks Castle buildings such as Training Camps and Taverns, plus extra Unit Fragments for crafting. The $WF token runs on Ronin and is tied to player progression, with a staking program on top. You can start playing without a wallet, any spending or any blockchain knowledge.
Getting Started in Wild Forest
Download Wild Forest for free from the App Store, Google Play or the Epic Games Store via the official website. The game has optional purchases, including a Premium Battle Pass.
In your first session, play the tutorial against AI bots, then join Public PvP once you have four units in your deck. Survival is a good next step because it counts toward your Battle Pass without the pressure of a live opponent. Good to know: store reviews are mixed, with players split over how much owned units matter, so Arena is the best place to judge the strategy itself.
