Will GTA 6 have crypto or NFTs?
There is no sign that GTA 6 will have crypto or NFTs. Neither Rockstar Games nor Take-Two has announced either one, and the official pre-order announcement lists ordinary editions at ordinary prices ($79.99 for Standard). Rockstar’s own mod rules point firmly the other way, with an explicit ban on crypto and NFTs.
Where the GTA 6 crypto rumors came from
The rumor goes back to a post by Tom Henderson, a well-known industry insider (June 2021). He said he had heard that some GTA 6 missions would reward you with an in-game version of bitcoin, and that the stock market might return with a broker for different currencies. He also told followers to take it with a pinch of salt.
Crypto influencers then stretched that idea into claims about real payments in Bitcoin and Ethereum, which have never had an official source. Henderson himself has since dropped the story, writing “I believe this was scrapped years ago” (February 2026). That is one insider’s belief and Rockstar has not commented on it, but it removes the only credible source the rumor ever had.
What Rockstar says about crypto and NFTs
The clearest statement comes from Rockstar’s modding guidelines (September 2026): “We do not permit the use or promotion of cryptocurrency or crypto assets (e.g., ‘NFTs,’ tokens, memecoin, or stablecoin).” Rockstar shared those rules ahead of GTA 6, and they also cover GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2.
This is an older position too. Rockstar banned crypto and NFTs on GTA V roleplay servers (November 2022), and Lil Durk’s NFT-based Trenches server came down after contact from Take-Two’s lawyers. These rules cover what fans can do, so they don’t prove what Rockstar would build itself. They do show which way the company leans, and nothing in the official GTA 6 material points to a change.
Is there an official GTA 6 crypto coin?
No. Any token that uses the GTA name has no known link to Rockstar. Plenty of people search for a “GTA 6 coin” to buy, and that demand attracts opportunists.
The best-known example is $CYBERLEEK, a Solana memecoin tied to leaked GTA 6 footage. It reached a market cap of about $25 million (August 2026), then lost 46% in 24 hours after its creator cashed out. Rockstar called the leaks “heartbreaking for the team”, and Take-Two reportedly moved to identify the leaker.
You may also see “Sharkbux”, a supposed Solana currency for GTA 6. It comes from documents posted to a public comment docket at the US SEC, where anyone can submit a comment. Nobody has established that Take-Two or Rockstar wrote them, and neither company has confirmed a token. Treat any “official GTA 6 token” as a scam until Rockstar says otherwise on its own channels, and read our guide to the risks of NFT gaming before you connect a wallet to anything.
Games with tradable items instead of GTA 6
GTA 6 comes out on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S (November 19, 2026), and everything official says you will pay for it and play it like any other big console game. If tradable items are what interest you, games built around them already exist. Off The Grid is a big-budget shooter with player-owned items, and our guide to what NFT games are explains how the idea works.
