Pulsar
Do you enjoy real-time strategy games with persistent MMO worlds? Pulsar is a free-to-play sci-fi RTS built on an Avalanche L1 blockchain where you mine resources, construct bases, and battle rival empires and alien invaders across a shared persistent universe. No wallet or crypto knowledge required to start.
What is Pulsar?
Pulsar is developed by Pulsar Games, a New York-based studio founded in 2021, backed by Blizzard Avalanche Fund. The game runs on a dedicated Avalanche L1 blockchain that launched mainnet on October 18, 2024, after processing over 620 million transactions on testnet. The $PLSR token went live for trading on February 5, 2025, and Season 2 followed with $15 million in $PLSR rewards available to active players.
The concept is Starcraft-meets-persistent-MMO: instead of isolated matches, every action takes place in a shared world where your land, units, and economy persist between sessions. Other players are your neighbors, rivals, and potential trading partners simultaneously.
How Does Pulsar Work?
Players take on the role of Commander and choose a specialization: Miner, Builder, or Warlord. Miners extract $PLSR from Land NFTs using unit NFTs and transport it to refineries for conversion into tradable tokens. Builders construct and upgrade base infrastructure, manufacturing new unit NFTs and researching upgrades. Warlords handle combat, defending territory from alien mobs and raiding rival empires in PvP missions.
Unit NFTs each serve distinct functions. Spider tanks are the standard infantry unit and can be leveled and upgraded. Drones, siege tanks, and transport vehicles handle specialized roles. Motherships govern how many units fit on a given land parcel, with Genesis Motherships offering permanent production boosts. Mobile Depots speed up resource logistics by shuttling raw materials to refineries.
Land mechanics add a management layer beyond direct play. Landowners can delegate territory management to a Commander in exchange for a tax cut on mined resources and crafted NFTs, making passive land income viable without active daily play.
Digital Collectibles in Pulsar
$PLSR is a single-token economy on the Pulsar Avalanche L1. Total supply is fixed and entirely embedded within Land NFTs, extracted only through active mining. Nothing is continuously minted, which keeps supply tied to actual gameplay rather than inflation.
NFT categories include Land (the source of all $PLSR), Buildings (refineries, factories, research facilities), and Units (miners, combat units, motherships). Genesis versions of units and structures carry permanent stat bonuses and higher production rates, with limited supply from the September 2024 sale. All assets trade on the in-game marketplace using $PLSR.
Cross-chain storage is supported, meaning you can hold your NFTs on BNB Chain or other compatible chains and still use them in-game without bridging. Gas fees are handled in the background by Pulsar’s Elastic TPS Booster infrastructure.
Getting Started in Pulsar
Download free at pulsar.game for PC. Create an account with email, no wallet required. The game automatically generates a blockchain account in the background, which you can claim later by linking a wallet when you’re ready. Free players start with access to the Imperial Bank for borrowing resources and NFTs, or can build virtual (non-blockchain) NFTs to begin participating in the economy. To mine $PLSR directly, you need at least one Land NFT, available on the in-game marketplace. Join the Discord for Season 2 event updates and referral codes that boost early progression.
