Metalcore
MetalCore was a third-person mechanized combat shooter set on an alien planet, developed by Studio 369 and built on the Immutable blockchain. The game won Best Blockchain Game at the GAM3 Awards and ran a series of open beta sessions through early 2025. Servers went offline on March 25, 2025 for what the team described as “important changes,” and no return date has been announced since.
What was MetalCore?
MetalCore was developed by Studio 369, a studio that positioned the game as a large-scale, combined-arms shooter bridging the gap between Web3 and mainstream FPS design. The game ran on Immutable X and featured infantry, tanks, aircraft, and mechs across faction-based territorial battles on Kerberos, a mineral-rich alien planet. It won the GAM3 Award for Best Blockchain Game and built a community across multiple open alpha and beta phases before its indefinite suspension.
The final public communication came on March 25, 2025, when the team posted that servers and Discord channels would be taken offline for “important changes,” with a promise to “return soon.” As of early 2026, nearly a year later, no return date has been confirmed and no further official updates have been published.
How MetalCore Worked
The game operated across two modes. Faction Wars were the core competitive experience: large-scale battles with up to 100 players per side, fighting for territorial control across Kerberos for one of three factions: Metal Punks, Holy Corporation, or Gearbreakers. Tactical points provided in-game advantages, and each player had a limited respawn count per battle, making coordination essential.
PvE missions offered a separate path for players to gather resources, craft gear, and develop land without the full pressure of faction combat. The crafting system covered vehicles, weapons, and pilot recruitment, with blueprints and materials earned through gameplay.
Combat unit types spanned infantry, mechs, tanks, and aircraft, each with distinct roles. Mechs were the visual signature of the game, towering machines with heavy firepower suited for frontline assaults, while aircraft supported with mobility and aerial strikes.
Digital Collectibles in MetalCore
Infantry units, vehicles, and gear were represented as NFTs on Immutable X, tradable on OpenSea and the Immutable marketplace. The $MCG token was announced and a closed beta 2 quest campaign ran before the server suspension, offering Marks convertible to $MCG at the token generation event. Players who participated in those campaigns hold claims to tokens, though the TGE timeline remains unclear given the suspension.
Existing NFT holders retain their assets in wallet, but the game is not currently playable and the marketplace activity for MetalCore NFTs has dropped significantly in the absence of active servers.
